Rock Climbing & Rappelling
Scale cliffs and rappel waterfalls.
What is Rock Climbing & Rappelling?
The sandstone cliffs of Hocking Hills provide a dramatic backdrop for guided rock climbing and rappelling adventures. Local outfitters like High Rock Adventures and Hocking Hills Adventure Trek offer professionally guided experiences for all skill levels, from first-timers to experienced climbers.
The signature experience is Ohio's only 120-foot waterfall rappel, where you descend alongside a cascading waterfall with the forest stretching out below you. Tours typically include multiple rappels of varying heights, from 35 feet to the full 120, so you can build confidence as you go. All gear and instruction are provided.
A full day on the rocks usually runs about six hours, including a lunch break. The guides are trained to American Mountain Guide Association standards and know these cliffs inside and out. Whether you're looking for a thrilling challenge or just want to try something completely new, this is one of the most memorable ways to experience Hocking Hills.
