What is Whippoorwill like?

Named for the elusive night bird whose song drifts through these woods, Whippoorwill is a place to slow down. This is one of the most secluded cabins on the property, set back among mature hardwoods where the only sounds are birdsong and wind through the leaves. Inside, a gas fireplace anchors the living area, creating a warm focal point on cool Hocking Hills evenings. The open floor plan pairs the living room with a fully equipped kitchen that has everything you need to cook a proper meal without leaving the woods. A comfortable seating area and dining space round out the main level, with pine-paneled walls throughout that keep the traditional cabin feel. The bedroom features a queen bed and enough room to spread out. The bathroom is clean and functional with a shower and all the basics. Step out onto the covered porch to find the private hot tub, where the forest closes in on all sides and the night sky opens above. Down in the yard, a fire pit and charcoal grill are tucked among the trees for cookouts and marshmallow roasting after dark. Whippoorwill is ideal for couples who want a genuine retreat from noise, crowds, and screens. If you are the type who would rather hear a whippoorwill call at dusk than scroll through your phone, this is your cabin. Pets are welcome, and the flat rate covers all your pets for the entire stay. It is the kind of quiet that is hard to find, and even harder to leave.

Whippoorwill is a small log-sided cabin with a bright green metal roof, set among mature pines and hardwoods. A tall pine stands right beside the porch, and the surrounding woods close in on the cabin from every direction, making this one of the quieter, more tucked-away spots on the property.

What's included at Whippoorwill?

House rules.

• Check-in: 4:00 PM EST. Early check-in at 2:00 PM available for $50, subject to availability.
• Check-out: 10:00 AM EST. Late checkout at 12:00 PM available for $50, subject to availability.
• Pets: Welcome. $50 flat rate covers all pets for the stay. No weight or breed restrictions. $150 fine for pet damage.
• Smoking: Not allowed indoors. $250 fine for indoor smoking.
• Quiet hours: 10 PM to 8 AM.
• Parties or events: Not permitted.

Accessibility.

• Getting in: Several steps up to the entry door, no ramp. Ask us for the exact number before booking.
• Bathroom: Walk-in shower. No roll-in shower and no grab bars.
• Layout: Single storey, no interior stairs between floors. Gravel driveway and parking pad.

Cancellation policy.

• Free cancellation up to 7 days before check-in. Full refund.
• Cancellations within 7 days of arrival are non-refundable, but dates may be moved subject to availability.
• For weather-related cancellations or emergencies, please reach out. We work with guests case-by-case.
• Booked through Airbnb, Vrbo or another travel site? Those bookings follow that platform's own cancellation policy. Booking direct with us gives you the most flexible terms.
