What is Settlers Roost like?

Settlers Roost channels the spirit of the pioneers who first settled these hills. A covered deck off the back gives you porch time with rocking chairs for slow mornings with coffee. Inside, a stone gas fireplace anchors the pine-paneled living room, flanked by a leather loveseat and a rustic log coffee table. Western artwork and antler mounts carry the frontier theme throughout. The bedroom sits just off the kitchen with a queen bed dressed in a handmade patchwork quilt. The full kitchen has pine cabinetry, ample counter space, a four-burner electric stove, and a double sink with a window looking out into the woods. A log dining table with matching chairs rounds out the eating area. The bathroom includes a walk-in shower, plenty of towels, and pine-paneled walls. Out back, the covered deck holds the private hot tub with views straight into the Hocking Hills canopy. A stone fire pit with a metal grill grate sits in the yard, along with a charcoal grill for cookouts under the trees. Settlers Roost is well suited for couples who want a self-sufficient stay with a rugged, lived-in feel. Pets are welcome, and the flat rate covers all your pets for the entire stay. This cabin rewards those who like to sit on the porch and let the evening come to them.

Settlers Roost is built up on a raised foundation, so the covered back deck sits above a grassy slope that drops toward the tree line. The log-style siding and American flag set the tone from the driveway, and the deck looks down into the yard with a clear view into the forest beyond.

Check-out: 10:00 AM EST. Late checkout at 12:00 PM available for $50, subject to availability.
Pets: Welcome. $50 flat rate covers all pets for the stay. No weight or breed restrictions. $150 fine for pet damage.
Smoking: Not allowed indoors. $250 fine for indoor smoking.
Quiet hours: 10 PM to 8 AM.
Parties or events: Not permitted.

When we arrived we did a walk through and notice a little hick up on the hot tub and message Brittany right away and she did an amazing job on getting the fix done. When we got back to the cabin, we noticed a bottle of wine. After that, we had a very very relaxing time. We will be returning customers.. Loved the location, loved the privacy. "This is the second time i’ve stayed at Avenwood Cabins, and i’m very pleased with the cabins and serenity of nature surrounding the Settlers Roost with Wayne National Forest as the backyard. The cabin was clean, and very cozy and LOVED that it’s dog friendly! Added bonus that the back porch was enclosed so as we soaked in the hot tub, our dogs could relax outside with us without worry. My only thing was there were no coffee filters, or baking sheets to cook with the oven! Also, we were unable to get the fireplace to work even after watching the videos posted and following instructions. So make sure you bring those items with you if you plan on staying at this cabin or maybe ask for help! but other than that, I highly recommend for the perfect secluded getaway!"

"We picked this cabin because of the indoor fireplace, the couple's massage add-on option, the hot tub, and kitchen. However, we were unfortunately disapointed in almost all of these areas. Firstly, the massage add on was either not as advertised or unavilable for a couple's massage because the massuse told me they do not have a parter and the massages are only one at a time (we choose not to book because of that). Once we arrived, we were also very dissapointed to see the fireplace was out of order, and had been for awhile. We were not informed, and would have cancled our stay. We reached out to Britany and got no reponse for a day and a half. After finding there was no sheet on the bed, and the floors were so dirty our feet were covered in dirt, we had to reach out to Airbnb for help. Luckily Airbnnb worked with the host and gave a partial refund, but my advice to guests would be to bring your own bedding and washcloths, and any kitchen supplies because it is extremely limited!!"
